Winter’s Here!

IMG 3146Here’s our ski dates for 2013.  Mark them on your calendar.  Our Saturday, January 26th day trip will be at Tahoe Cross Country in Tahoe City.  Our  Saturday, February 9th day trip will be at Tahoe Donner Cross Country.  Our 3 day event is set for March 9th-11th at Tahoe Donner Cross Country.  Think snow!

Summer Hikes a Success

110 21821Ski for Light’s first summer hiking program was a great success!  The three hikes were arranged with the help of the Tahoe Rim Trail.  Thanks goes to Jim Mrazek for the planning and really going out of his way in helping with transportation.

Our 20th Anniversary 3 Day Event is March 10th-12th

Skiers and guides enjoying the snow at Tahoe Donner.The snow is here!  Get ready for a great 3 day event at Tahoe Donner Cross Country Center March 10th to 12th.  This is a message for guides:  This year a number of our beginner skiers have indicated they may want to go back and forth between skies and snowshoes over the 3 days.  None of these skiers will be fast on skies, so if your skiing is a little rusty don’t worry.  Please bring both skis and snowshoes, if you are willing to guide on both.  If you are guiding on Saturday and not riding the bus, please arrive at Tahoe Donner Cross Country by 9:15 a.m. The bus should arrive by 9:30 a.m.  SRSFL 20th Anniversary Guide Newsletter

SRSFL Skiers Do the Great Ski Race!

Skier Marilyn Gerhard, Guides Shawna Ramsey and Sharon Fong at the start of the Great Ski Race.Two of our visually impaired skiers finished the 30 km. Great Ski Race.  They are 70+ skier Marilyn Gerhard and endurance athlete Walter Raineri.  A big thanks goes to guides Sharon Fong, Shawna Ramsey and Catherine Black who volunteered their time to make this come true for our skiers.   Congratulations to all for completing this race!
