This is the final call for participating in the upcoming three-day event: March 7-9, 2020. This post contains all the info you need, including some updates and changes.

First of all, any guides or volunteers planning to stay at the hotel
should make sure to submit their application and payment by the new
deadline, February 20th. Please see the guide and volunteer pages on this website for your particular application, or contact Edie Lott, guide coordinator, or Cathy Campbell, volunteer coordinator, if you have any questions.

For skiers, we have made some adjustments as our skier coordinator,
Betsy Rowell, is still in rehab recuperating from her broken leg.
First of all, if you’ve already applied and have questions, you can
still contact Betsy on her cell phone: 916-205-5557.  Meanwhile, Cindy Quintana, former skier coordinator, has stepped in to help with tasks Betsy cannot currently do without her computer. If you have not yet applied, we have extended the deadline by a
couple of days. The new deadline is Thursday, February 20, 2020.
This is the deadline for both applications and money, unless you have
made prior arrangements.  Applications are available on line at www.srsfl.org
It is a pdf which most of us download and then fill out.

You can include your check with the application. Remember, all checks
should be made out to SRSFL.

And if you are emailing your application, you can either send your
money to Cindy at the above address, or you can mail it directly to
our treasurer at:

With only a few days remaining to apply, we sincerely hope you will
consider joining us for this annual weekend of SRSFL magic. And do
not hesitate to contact either Cindy or Betsy if you have questions.

And whether or not you plan to attend, please, please keep that snow
dance going!

While we only had five visually impaired skiers, it was still a great trip!  The weather was fantastic, the snow was good and everyone had a great time!  Join us on February 8th for our next day trip.

The snow is here!  Get your guide and skier applications in soon and get ready for another great ski season!

From the great skiing at Tahoe Donner to the yummy meals at the Glenshire Clubhouse our 3 day event marking our  27th great year on the snow was an outstanding success!  More pictures will be added soon!

Our January day trip was a great start to the ski season!   For all of us who helped put it together it was truly a day well lived!  Six year old Emma was definitely a hit!

It is with a very heavy heart that our president, Vicki Post, writes to let you know that our beloved guide, Mat Stein, died yesterday afternoon. We do not yet have a lot of information, but we know that he was rock climbing and just collapsed. He did not fall or anything like that; he simply
collapsed, and they were unable to revive him.

Those of you who knew Mat, who skied with him, who were guided by him, know what a huge loss this is for SRSFL. He was a caring, exquisite soul, a brilliant engineer, a free spirit with a wonderful
bit of rebel in him. He brought so much to our program and to this world. He had a way of instilling confidence in people he was guiding. He was always available to discuss hiking trails and more; heck, he even gave Margie the shirt off his back one day. Continue reading →
